PACQUIAO IS NOW THE SLIGHT BETTING FAVORITE OVER THURMAN By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Mon, 01 Jul 2019 Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao is now a -115 favorite (bet $115 to win $100) in the latest Pacquiao vs. Thurman odds, with Keith Thurman listed at -105 (bet $105 to win $100) in their WBA welterweight unification fight which Las Vegas odds makers analysed as virtually even, according to CBS Sports. * * * Last month, initial figures listed Thurman a -135 favorite and Pacquiao a +115 underdog. That means a $135 bet on Thurman, wins just $100, while a $100 bet on Pacquiao, the earns $115. Pacquiao was the underdog for the first time since he fought Floyd Mayweather in May 2015. * * * The latest odds show that stories and news about Pacquiao is starting to sway the betting public, according to Forbes, and fans are beginning to place more bets on the former pound-for-pound king to the tune of 61 percent of the bets are now risked on the fighting senator to win the fight. * * * Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs) is ten years younger than Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) but was less impressive last January when he came back from a 22 month layoff due to injury to outscore Josesito Lopez. Despite his being 40-years old, Pacquiao looked spectacular in his last two fights, knocking out Lucas Matthysse and getting a one-sided decision win over Adrien Broner. I have been preparing for this fight for more than a month, dividing my time as a lawmaker and a fighter and I believe I?ve done enough to prepare myself, for the fight," Pacquiao said. * * * Conditioning coach Justine Fortune says ?Manny?s been really very aggressive in this training camp and I?m not surprised if he, indeed, feels he can fight already this early." He added that it makes everything easy for us from hereon. "That certainly reduced our problems to seeing to it that Manny doesn?t get sick or overtrained,? he explained. * * * Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are the two biggest and most famous free agents on the market this summer, and they are reportedly interested in playing for a team. According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, both two-time NBA Finals MVP would consider signing with are the Los Angeles Clippers or the New York Knicks. * * * According to CBS Sports' Bill Reiter, the Lakers are extremely confident on signing Kawhi Leonard when free agency begins on Sunday. In addition, Marc Stein of the New York Times is reporting that the Lakers are being viewed as the "true threat" to the Raptors in terms of signing Leonard. The recent NBA Finals MVP is expected to meet with both the Lakers and Clippers, along with the Raptors. * * * Despite suffering a torn Achilles tendon in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant is still presently considered as one of the top players in free agency. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Durant will negotiate with the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks when free agency starts. All of these teams have the needed salary space to sign Durant to a max deal. * * * Durant has won two NBA championships (2017, 2018), an NBA Most Valuable Player Award (2014), two Finals MVP Awards (2017, 2018), two NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Awards (2012, 2019) four NBA scoring titles (2010, 2011, 2012, 2014), the NBA Rookie of the Year Award (2008), and two Olympic gold medals (2012, 2016).
