PAGARA SCORES FIRST ROUND KO IN PINOY PRIDE 45

PhilBoxing.com

Albert Pagara is on the right track on his road to redemption and it took him only the first round to demolish his opponent George Krampah of Ghana. Pagara successfully defended his WBO intercontinental title belt in the co-main event of Pinoy Pride 45, Saturday evening at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City.

Pagara at first was careful with his moves and threw bombs at his African foe in a very watchful manner. Halfway through the opening round, Pagara began to unleash his dreaded arsenal causing the Ghanaian to feel shaky.

Krampah protested that he was hit by a low blow as he was counted out by Referee Danrex Tapdasan, but it was Pagara's vicious blows to the head that stopped the visiting opponent. The official time of the stoppage was 2:55 of the very first round.

Heading to the last minute of the round, the champ strengthened his punches, connecting a brutal body blow followed by a quick uppercut to knock Krampah down and out.

Pagara raised his professional record to 31 wins and 1 loss with 22 knockouts as he achieved his fifth straight victory after his loss to Cesar Juarez. While Krampah suffered his only fourth loss as against 14 wins with 12KOs.

During the weigh in, Pagara was one pound overweight of the limit of the 122-pound division while Krampah registered at the scales at 120 pounds. Pagara however was able to shed off the excess weight easily.

The "Prince of ALA" wants to avenge his loss to his only tormentor Mexican Juarez. That is the only missing link to his road to redemption.

Pagara is now rated No. 5 by the WBO and No. 6 by the IBF in the superbantamweight division. Juarez is rated No. 9 WBC, No. 2 WBA, No. 5 IBF, and No. 7 WBO contender.

Jeo "Santino" Santisima fought a unanimous decision victory over Mexican Uriel "Yuca" Lopez to defend his WBO Oriental superbantamweight title in the main event of Pinoy Pride 45. The judges scored it 117-111, 117-111 and 118-110.

In the other co-feature, KJ Cataraja dominated his Mexican opponent Victor Hugo Reyes, scoring a unanimous decision with the scores 99-91, 99-91, and 100-90. Cataraja becomes the WBO youth super flyweight champion.
