CHICAGO -- Harrison Barnes scored 21 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 108-93 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night at the United Center.
Barnes hit 7-of-16 from the field and grabbed five boards while J.J. Barea added 14 off the bench. Rookie sensation Luka Doncic struggled with just 3-of-12 shooting from the field but he finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 31 minutes and 47 seconds of action as a starting forward.
Zach LaVine paced the Bulls with 26 points, including a windmill jam that brought the crowd to its feet in the opening half, but LaVine missed 15 of 23 shots as he was hounded by the stern Mavs defense. Jabari Parker tallied 16 points and six boards while Justin Holiday pitched in 14. No other Bull scored in double figures.
The Bulls were up by seven early, a lead they could't sustain as they shot just 35 of 89 from the field on their home floor (39.3 percent) and a dismal 8-of-33 from 3-point territory (24.2 percent). The Bulls did, however fare extremely well from the free throw line -- 20 of 22.
But the Mavericks hit 37 of 80 shots (46.2 percent) and connected 10 of 33 treys (30.3 percent). They improved to 5-8 for the season.
Dirk Nowitzi, the face of the franchise the last 20 years, did not see action as he continues to rehab from left ankle surgery. Wes Matthews was also out with a left hamstring strain.
The Bulls, who fell to 4-10, weren't fully-loaded, either. They played minus starters Kris Dunn (left MCL sprain), Lauri Markannen (right elbow sprain). Also out were reserve big man Bobby Portis (right MCL sprain) and shooting guard Denzel Valentine (left ankle sprain).
J.J. Barea drilled 14 points off the bench to aid Dallas' 103-98 conquest of the Chicago Bulls on Monday night at the United Center.
