NBA - - Okogie fills in for injured Wiggins, propels Wolves win

MINNEAPOLIS - Josh Okogie, a rookie Minnesota Timberwolf, proved to be quite a revelation on Monday night as the shooting guard displayed enormous skills while filling in for the injured Andrew Wiggins.
Okogie, a 20-year old Georgia Tech alum by way of Nigeria, appeared in 24 solid minutes and pocketed 12 points, four rebounds and three steals to help the Wolves beat the Indiana Pacers, 101-91. at the Target Center.
The 20th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Okogie made 5-for-13 field goals, went 1-for-6 from the arch and made his lone free throw.
Wiggins produced only two points in eight minutes and did not return after suffering a right quad contusion. He was still being evaluated as of press time.
Jimmy Butler led the Wolves with 20 points, Karl-Anthony Towns had a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. Taj Gibson tallied 13 while Derrick Rose, Gorgui Dieng and Tyus Jones combined for 28 points.
On the Pacers side, Victor Oladipo and Bojan Bogdanovic had 20 points each. Myles Turner had 16, Thaddeus Young chipped in nine points while Domantas Sabonis contributed eight points. Starting point guard Darren Collison settled with five points and six assists.
Minnesota?s tough defense and productive bench play ignited a 12-0 run to open the fourth period. The Wolves reserves outscored the Pacers' subs, 43-21.
Indy raced to a 28-25 first quarter lead before Minnesota took a 50-49 halftime edge. The Pacers won the third quarter 24-22 but the Wolves turned the tables in the final 12 minutes with a 29-18 barrage.
Minnesota improved to 2-2 for the season while the Pacers, who saw their four-game win streak at the Target Center halted. also leveled at 2-2.
UP NEXT. The Wolves will visit Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night (Thursday morning Philippine Time) while the Pacers take on LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs on the same night in San Antonio.
