NBA - Clips prey on Wolves, 128-101
By Robert Mellana PhilBoxing.com Thu, 04 Oct 2018
LOS ANGELES -- Tobias Harris exploded for 23 to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 128-101 rout of the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night at Staples Center.
Still unbeaten in two preseason contests, the Clips also got an all-around effort from Danilo Gallinari, who peppered the stats sheet with 22 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Boban Marjonic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander combined for 27 points for Los Angeles, which shot 49 of 89 field goals (55.1 percent).
Karl Anthony-Towns, who just signed a fat contract extension worth $190 million entering training camp, sizzled with 18 points and 7 rebounds but his production did little for Minnesota, which made only 29 of 81 field goals (35.8 percent) and 4-of-21 threes (19 percent).
After scoring 38 first quarter points, the Timberwolves, who got a combined 20 points from Andrew Wiggins and Taj Gibson, scored just 63 the rest of the way. The Clippers, meanwhile, took a 69-53 halftime lead and never looked back.
The Clippers gun for their third straight win when they face LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday at Staples Center. The 1-1 Timberwolves, on the other hand, return home to host Russell Westbrook and the OKC Thunder.
