MID-AUTUMN MAJOR LEAGUE BOXING By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 23 Sep 2018 BEIJING, CHINA ? The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival takes place on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. It is one of the three major holiday events in China, the other two being the Lunar New Year and the Dragon Boat Festival. This year, the three day holiday starts on September 24. Sharing mooncakes is one of the traditions during this occasion. A couple of days before the start of the festival, SECA?s Major League Boxing had a back to back show at Zi Space where punches, not cakes, were exchanged. Friday?s show saw Xia Lingjie beat Filipino expat Bener Santig by a lopsided unanimous decision after six rounds in the main bout. Xia may have been deducted a point for repeated low blows but he dominated Santig with shots to the body and head and won every round. The fans also got a treat when local prospect Zhou Bin (9-1-1,0KO) had an exhibition bout against rising Filipino prospect Carlo Caesar Pe?alosa (12-1,5KO?s). Pe?alosa is headed home and will face Tanzanian Jemsi Kibazange (11-2-2,1KO) at the SM North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City this September 30. For the rest of the card - Zeng Yujie prevailed by majority decision against Qu Ziang, Xu Zhanfeng stopped Tuliegen in three rounds, Chen Peng got a majority decision win against Wang Yu, Zanghaer beat Zhang Chao by split decision and Su Yunyun scored a unanimous verdict against Song Qihang. There were six bouts on tap Saturday. In the main bout, Li Yuzhe dominated Zhang Hongpeng in six rounds and won 60-54 in all three judges? cards. Luo Chenghao stopped Enhebatu with a body punch in the opening round, Feng Chao vs Yang Lishan ended in a majority draw, Cheng Shaoyan got a split decision win against Wang Huakun, Li Huanran won by unanimous decision against Luo Chuanhao, and Huang Liwei beat Peng Yong, also by unanimous decision.
