Jordan Clarkson's off season

PhilBoxing.com

I met up with Filipino-American basketball star Jordan Clarkson in a charity event he hosted in Los Angeles last Saturday July 14, 2018. The last time we saw JC was in the NBA finals were he suited up for the Cleveland Cavaliers who battled against the Golden State Warriors. During my interview with him, we talked about how his recent visit here in LA was.

?It feels good, just coming back seeing a lot of familiar faces that I know since I?ve been here and it?s cool to be back.?

Among the many conversation we had, we also touched based on what he was doing to improve his skills for this upcoming NBA season.

?Just my body, trying to get stronger so I can last longer in the playoffs still playing at a high level where I?m not tired.?

After being traded to the Cavaliers, it was evident that reaching the playoffs was a big possibility for him given the lineup they had which then included Lebron James. Not only he played in the playoffs but also made his first finals appearance which he had he gained much valued experience. He vowed to have a better performance next time he plays in the playoffs and contribute more to the team.

Clarkson (R) poses with the author.

When asked about his take regarding the incident between Philippines versus Australia in the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifier that occurred in the Philippines earlier in the month, Jordan noted that it happens in basketball and that tempers flare and you always have your teammates back to the point that it?s part of the game. He concluded this issue by stating, ?Don?t throw a punch and don?t elbow someone on the head.?

Jordan Clarkson had some words to say to his fans and supporters all the way in the Philippines.

?I appreciate you?ll in supporting me, you?ll gotta come to Cleveland and get some new Jerseys, get some number eights (the jersey number he wears) and thank you all."

Overall Jordan Clarkson seemed motivated and excited for the next NBA season. The Cavaliers are in need of a new leader to replace Lebron James. While there are many uncertainties the Cavaliers have to face, one thing is for certain that Jordan Clarkson will come out stronger, better and much more confident than he has ever been before.
