Upset-conscious Moralde vows to go all-out versus unbeaten foe
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 23 May 2018
 Moralde.
PULL off a big upset.
John Vincent Moralde will have this in mind when he faces unbeaten fighter Ismael Muwendo on Saturday at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.
With his career practically on the line, Moralde has put in the necessary work as he faces a gargantuan task of beating Muwendo.
Muwendo certainly poses a serious threat for Moralde as the American boxer has knocked out 12 opponents in securing 19 straight victories.
Moralde, however, is undeterred.
?I am ready. I will do everything to win this one,? said Moralde, who parades a 19W-1L-0D, 10KOs record.
Moralde is coming off a loss to Toka Kahn Clary but the fight against Muwendo is more than just bouncing back but prolonging a once promising career.
?I can?t lose this fight,? he said. ?I am more conditioned now than in my last fight. I trained well for this fight.?
Accompanied by Jim Claude Manangquil, CEO of Sanman Promotions, and Dexter Tan, CFO of Sanman, Moralde arrived in Los Angeles last May 13 ? or 13 days before the fight.
According to Manangquil, Moralde trained under Rodel Mayol at the famed Wild Card Gym for 10 days.
Before flying to LA, Moralde sharpened his arsenals under Fernando Lumacad at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City.
?He came 13 days early to recover from jetlag and adjust with the weather here in LA,? Manangquil said.
With all the preparations, Manangquil is optimistic that Moralde can come up with a big surprise.
?We are confident in this fight. He knows if he wins, his career will be back on track and big fights will come. I saw his preparation for this fight and I think he can pull off an upset,? Manangquil said.
Moralde and Muwendo will fight for eight rounds in a non-title bout under the super featherweight division. It will be one of the undercards of the Jonas Sultan-Jerwin Ancajas world title showdown.
