NBA -- Pacers clip Celts, 99-97, take 3rd spot in the East
By Oliver Iglesias PhilBoxing.com Tue, 13 Mar 2018

BOSTON ? The Indiana Pacers proved that their first win over Boston in early February was no fluke as they pounced on the Celtics again, 99-97, on Sunday night at the TD Garden.
All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo scattered 27 points while three other Pacers finished in double figures with center Myles Turner adding 19 and 10 rebounds, Bogdan Bogdanovic contributed 14 points and Domantas Sabonis chipped in 10 markers.
Boston held on to a 50-40 halftime lead but without Celtics All-Star guard Kyrie Irving in the second half, the Pacers upped the ante in the third quarter -- outscoring their opponent 34-20 to secure the lead for good.
Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum made his second free throw to tie the game at 95-all with 36.5 seconds remaining in the final period but this was Boston?s last hurrah as Indiana center Myles Turner made a strong driving lay-up to gain the upper hand once again at 97-95. Victor Oladipo made two more free throws with 10.4 seconds remaining to make it 99-95. A late layup by Tatum reflected the final score.
There now appears to be a log-jam at the Eastern Conference standings as Cleveland and Indiana are now statistically tied at 3rd-4th positions with their 38-27 and 39-28 records, respectively. These teams are 10.5 games behind East top gun Toronto Raptors. The Washington Wizards are not that far with its 38-29 slate.
The Pacers went 39-for-81 for a 48.1% clip while Boston had 34-for-81 for 42% field goal conversion.
For its next home game, the Celtics face the Wizards this Wednesday March 14.
