NOYNAY TO BATTLE MEXICAN IN BOGO APRIL 7

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU ? World ranked Joe Noynay will have a homecoming fight in Bogo City, Cebu this April against Mexican Hector Garcia. The 22 year old Noynay (13-2-1,4KO?s) scored a career best win against the previously undefeated Pan Jinxiang of China last December in Zhongshan.

Noynay took Pan?s WBO Asia Pacific Youth junior lightweight title and also captured the vacant WBC ABCO Silver super featherweight title. This win enabled Noynay to enter the 130 lb. division top fifteen rankings of the World Boxing Organization.

Noynay is also one of the nine boxers who will be honored during the annual SAC-SMB Cebu Sports Awards on March 26. Noynay was born in Bogo, Cebu, which is also the birthplace of the late great Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde.

Noynay knocked down Pan in rounds two and three in front of a silenced crowd inside the Zhongshan Sports Arena. Pan tried to mount a rally but an accidental head clash inflicted a cut on Noynay?s forehead in the sixth which got worse in the subsequent rounds which led to the fight being stopped in the 8th round. Noynay was ahead ? 76-74,76-74 and 78-72 ? on all the three judges? cards and was awarded the technical decision win.

Prior to his victory in mainland China, Noynay had previously garnered the WBC Eurasia bantamweight and WBC ABCO featherweight belts, winning against fellow Filipinos Edison Berwela and Danilo Gabisay respectively.

Noynay?s promoter, Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde told this writer that his match against the Mexican has been finalized and has been approved by the WBO. He also stated that Noynay will be arriving in Cebu on April 4.

Garcia (12-6-2,7KO?s) is from Tijuana, Baja California. The 23 year old?s boxrec record shows he has not fought for any title in Mexico and has a 3W-2L,2KO record in his five fights for 2017.

Garcia?s best opponent would be Juan Carlos Burgos, who had a draw in 2013 in his world title shot against Roman Martinez, who was then WBO world junior lightweight champ. Burgos beat Garcia by unanimous verdict last August. But Garcia bounced back with a unanimous win against Carlos Octavio Guardado.

Noynay vs Garcia will be held at the Bogo City Sports and Cultural Complex. The April 7 fight is promoted by Elorde Intl Promotions will also feature on the undercards Cris Alfante vs Renoel Pael, Cris Paulino vs Jason Tinampay, Alvin Medura vs Robert Bayo, Ronel Sumalpong vs Justin Darap, Richard Sueno vs Roga Libres and a female bout between Machieka Pareno vs Jean de Paz.
