Support this bloodless anti-droga drive

PhilBoxing.com

Pray that this novel drive against illegal drugs succeeds and for it to be copied and replicated in countless other areas of concern.

Here: The Mandaluyong Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Madac), in observance of drug abuse prevention and control week (Nov. 19-26), has launched the ?Kilusang Pangkat Tahanan? as a means of immersing the youth in the fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs. The family-based movement will involve family teams in each home, whose responsibility is to heighten knowledge and concern of family members on the ill-effects of illegal drugs. It has for its theme: ?Ang droga ay isang kumunoy, mahirap kumawala, huwag na huwag subukan.?

By all means, everybody must be educated and properly warned against the horrifying quick-sand killer grip of illegal drugs.

?As a means of immersing the young in the project, a logo-making contest has been launched in all high schools in Mandaluyong,? says civic leader Nandy Charvet, active volunteer of Madac. ?The project has the full support of Mayor Menchie Abalos.?

Family teams will next be made to sign a pledge/agreement diploma meant to combat and contain illegal drugs.

Ancajas solid favorite

Irish challenger Jamie Conlan, 19-0, swears IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines will be the toughest fight of his life. Majority of home fans in Belfast, Ireland, give countryman Conlan, who has stopped eleven of his past foes, only a slim chance of squeezing through with an upset win during their Saturday (Ireland time) fight.

Conlan admits he?s caught in an uneasy spot, being the big underdog. At the same time, the fighting Irishman says he savors being uncomfortable. He thrives under pressure, having had to pick himself up several times, before finishing victorious.

Ancajas (27-1-1), who fights before a roaring house of Irish fans, has the edge in experience, craft, power. But the main fighter of the Manny Pacquiao Promotions could only be expected to be wholly focused.

Said Conlan: ?This championship could be tactical as a chess match, or it could be a bloody brawl to the finish, and I?m ready.?

Conlan said it?s a dream-come-true to be fighting for the world crown.

Ancajas, on the other hand, could move up to full stardom with a victory, after having defended his 115-lb world crown, which he won in sensational fashion over favored McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico, a couple of times.
