PhilBoxing.com

MANDAUE CITY, CEBU - Jhaleel ?Iron Chin? Payao ( 15W-1L,9KO?s) of the Omega gym and Raul ?Vulcan? Yu (9W-2L-2D,8KO?s) of the ALA gym are set for their ten round battle this Friday October 27 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex. Both weighed in at the bantamweight limit of 118lbs during the official weigh-in held Thursday at the Parkmall in Mandaue. They will dispute the PBF bantamweight title held by Payao.

Payao is a former WBC Youth super flyweight titleholder while Yu came up short in his bid last February to win the IBF Youth superflyweight title against Jade Bornea in Gen.Santos City. Both boxers were hesitant in making predictions but both showed confidence in coming out on top.

Jason Canoy (L) and Renerio Arizala.

The supporting main bout is another ten rounder between Jason Canoy of the Omega Gym and Renerio Arizala of the Penalosa stable. Both stepped on the scales at 119lbs.

Canoy is a familiar crowd-pleaser in Omega fight cards. Last March, he lost a split decision in South Africa to Mzuvukile Magwaca in his bid for the WBF world bantamweight belt.

Arizala has faced many good Pinoy fighters, losing to the likes of Ardin Diale, Genesis Libranza and Jake Bornea and a win against Romnick Magos.

Kenny Demecillo (L) and Gerpaul Valero.

Jimboy Haya (L) and Elias Joaquino.

Another fight that promises to be a barn burner will be between Kenny Demecillo of the Omega Gym and Gerpaul Valero of Brix Flores gym of Mandaue. Demecillo was at 119 while Valero was two pounds lighter.

There will be eight more supporting bouts which will feature undefeated up and comer Tomjune Mangubat vs Crisanto Contemprato, Jimboy Haya vs Elias Joaquino, Rimon Rama vs Richard Bulacan and five more prospects from the Omega Gym.

The weigh-in was supervised by Rolando Mendoza of GAB-Cebu.The post weigh-in press-conference was attended by OPSI VP Jerome Calatrava, Promoter and Omega advertising manager Angel dela Merced and Omega Gym manager James Osorio.

The fights will start at 6PM.
