Toto Landero Shocks Vic Saludar; Grabs His World Rankings (PHOTOS)
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 11 Jun 2017

There was shocker Saturday night at the Mandaue City Sports Complex in Cebu. The author was 21-year-old Robert "Toto" Landero (9-1-2, 2 KO's) who won a close hard-fought 10-round split decision over world-ranked WBO # 2/WBA # 14/IBF # 10 Minimumweight "Vicious" Vic Saludar (14-3, 9 KO's) of the southern City of Polomolok in Cotabato del Sur.
Vic Saludar, who might have underestimated his opponent, won some rounds but never took command of the actions, missing punches and gassing out in the final rounds.
Landero, on the other hand, showed consistency, stamina and determination, valuable elements that took him to the greatest victory so far in his young pro boxing career, a triumph that is likely to get him into the world rankings.
Born in Negros Occidental Province (now living and training in Manila), Toto Landero said prior to the combat that he was determined to press his pro career forward. This win certainly does it.
The referee of the exciting clash was GAB Cebu veteran third man Tony Pesons.
The fight was the main event of the Saturday night card at Mandaue Sports Complex promoted by Championship Boxing Development. Timekeepers were Rowel E. Mendoza and Noel Etcobanez Sr.

Landero (R) and Vic Saludar go blow by blow in Mandaue June 10 2017.
