Oscar Valdez retains WBO Featherweight belt in first defense against Hiroshige Osawa

Las Vegas - Oscar Valdez successfully defended his WBO Featherweight crown with a stoppage of Japanese challenger, Hiroshige Osawa in the 7th round of the co-main card of Manny Pacquiao versus Jessie Vargas at the Thomas and Mack Center.

In his first defense of his title belt that he won in July, Valdez impresses with a beat-down of Osawa, sending him down first in the 4th.

Osawa (30-3-4, 19 KOs) was a prime target for Valdez's punches which ranged from jabs and hard hooks both to the body and head.

After an uneventful 5th and 6th, Valdez poured it in the 7th and he was able to pin him in the ropes where he landed multiple unanswered shots against his game challenger.

Referee Vic Drakulich stopped the action after witnessing carnage to protect Osawa from further injury.

Valdez retains his title belt and remains unbeaten at 22-0 with 19 KOs with the victory.
