PAGARA BROTHERS FACE COMPETITIVE OPPONENTS IN ?PINOY PRIDE? 39 AT THE CEBU COLISEUM By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 21 Oct 2016 World Boxing Organizatiom (WBO) International super lightweight champion Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara who is ranked No. In the world, and younger brother Prince Albert Pagara who suffered a stunning 8th round knockout against Mexico?s super bantamweight Cesar Juarez who had previously engaged world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? in a brutal battle before losing a lopsided decision after being dropped twice, will both face tough challenges on November 26 at the Cebu Coliseum. The elder Pagara will face off against former world champion Jose Alfaro of Nicaragua who has a record of 28-10-1 with 24 big knockouts in a 10-round, non-title showdown in the undercard of the explosive fight card which will be headlined by stylish Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo in an IBF interim world light flyweight title bout against Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr., a competent challenger from Thailand with a record of 31-4-1 with 16 knockouts. In his last bout, Jason Pagara won by a 3rd round knockout American Abraham Alvarez by knockout last July in San Mateo, California, USA. He is on a 12-fight winning streak since 2012. Alfaro on the other hand, didn?t impress in his last two bouts. He lost to Mexican Pedro Campa last April by decision and his fight previous to that against another Mexican ended in a draw. The 32-year old Alfaro won the WBA world lightweight title in 2007 against Thai Prawet Singwangcha by split decision. He lost the world title the following year against Japanese Yusuke Korobi by TKO in Japan. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
