USA BOXING COUNTS ON HELP OF WBC AND IBF TO ORGANIZE AN AMATEUR TOURNAMENT THAT SEEKS TO BETTER THE EFFORTS OF AIBA

USA Boxing has counted on the combined help of the World Boxing Council and the International Boxing Federation to organize what the WBC reports is ?a stellar amateur boxing tournament in Connecticut, to rival, better and outstrip the efforts of AIBA? the international amateur boxing federation.

Jason Concepcion, who chronicled this memorable event, gratefully urged: "I'd like to thank you for supporting my amateur event. Mike George represented the WBC with class and unwavering support for our amateur program. The Willie Pep Invitational was a sell-out standing-room-only event and people are still raving about it."

This is the first time that two World sanctioning organizations, including IBF President Daryl Peoples who was in attendance, combined, concerning an amateur Invitational."

The WBC website said Jason is determined to build on the success of this tournament, to boost amateur boxing, building on the very foundations of the sport. But...he's appealing to the WBC and IBF, and NOT AIBA, to lend a helping hand! He stated, "We have set the bar so high that we are sending a message to Aiba that they are not the be-all end-all in amateur boxing! "As USA Boxing Connecticut continues to build this program, your continued support will be critical to one of two ends: the complete overhaul of AIBA, or the complete scrapping of that failed self-serving program and beginning a competing organization that will replace it with the four major sanctioning body Presidents as part of the executive board.

Jason Concepcion made it clear "The IOC cannot and will not refuse us. United we are undeniable. Now that we are in the driver's seat we can concentrate on grass roots development safety, education, good citizenship, community volunteering, and job training for many of the boxers involved in the amateur program that may not go pro or that may go pro but may not make it to World Championship status."

Jason also significantly added: "I would like to have a deeper discussion regarding this issue. I believe with World Boxing Council support, and also with the IBF's commitment already in hand that the WBO and WBA will be in line as well. USA Boxing presented a framed fight poster with a ticket signed by participating boxers to Mike George as an expression of our sincerest gratitude."
