BOXING SAGA RETURNS TO THE WATER CUBE

BEIJING, CHINA ? After a two month absence, professional boxing action returned to the Multi-functional Hall of the Water Cube in Beijing?s Olympic Park. The first of a back to back weekend card had ten bouts in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight categories.

Dong Youli relied on a steady body attack to beat Liu Xuelong by unanimous decision in their welterweight contest. Scores ? Yin Haiyang ? 40-36,Pichit Wongporamet ? 40-36, Peng Yuanlong ? 39-37.

Chen Sen dropped Mengketuogesi with a one-two combo in the opening seconds of their featherweight fight and Referee Yin Haiyang stopped it when Mengketuogesi got up but stated that he was dizzy. Time 0:22 round one.

Luo Yangyang won a majority verdict against Wu Hongfei in their hard fought featherweight bout. Scores ? Han Hongxiang -38-38,Luo Mei ? 39-37, Li Xianhao ? 39-37.

Wu Ju beat Zhang Feng by unanimous verdict in their featherweight clash. Zhang was deducted a point by Referee Han Hongxiang in round one after he punched Wu who was on the canvas due to a slip. Identical scores of 39-37 from Yuan Yunzi, Wang Lin and Peng Yuanlong.

Lightweights Yang Xiaolong and He Changkai battled to a majority draw. Changkai was cut on the right eyebrow in the final round but he managed to hold off the more experienced Yang. Scores ? Luo Mei and Mekin Sumon ? 38-38,Peng Yuanlong ? 39-37 for Yang
This was Yang?s first bout since losing the lightweight finals in the League of Fists tournament last July in Urumqi to Alimu Wushoer.

Aikerimujiang eked a split decision against Li Shilong in another lightweight match. Li was deducted a point by Han Hongxiang in round two for hitting during the break. Scores ? Pichit Wongporamet and Du Liqiang had it 39-37 for Akerimujiang, Li Xianhao scored 39-36 for Li.

Li Leshan beat Zhang Xianhai by unanimous decision in their lightweight bout. Scores ? Wang Lin- 39-37, Yuan Yunzi and Du Liqiang ? 40-36.

Welterweight Wu Guangming knocked down Ma Haiqiang in round three and turned up the heat on the fading Ma in round four prompting Ma?s corner to throw in the towel. Time - 0:51

Ahatalike Muerzhabieke knocked down Nuerzhati Made in the fourth and final round and prevailed in the middleweight bout by scores of 40-35 from Yuan Yunzi, 38-37 from Yin Haiyang and 39-36 from Mekin Sumon.

In the final bout of the bout, middleweight Li Zhichang got a unanimous win over Yan Jie. Scores ? Pichit Wongporamet and Wang Lin- 40-36, Peng Yuanlong ? 39-37.

The fight card was promoted by GWTS Promotions and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC), International.
