GEMINO KOS UNDEFEATED CLARY IN 1ST ROUND

PhilBoxing.com

FILIPINO super bantamweight Jhon ?The Disaster? Gemino scored a shocking first round knockout win against the undefeated Toka Kahn Clary of the United States in their non-title fight held September 23 at the Osceola Heritage Center in Kissimmee, Florida, USA.

Clary, a 5-foot-8 southpaw, kept on throwing his jabs against his 4-inches shorter opponent Gemino.

But Gemino kept his composure and waited for the right timing to counter attack.

?Siya (Clary) ang unang sumuntok tapos umilag ako pag jab ko bigla niya akong pinasok sinabayan ko nang right body at right hook kaya ayun tumama bumagsak siya,? said Gemino in a chat message.

Clary tried to stand up but failed to beat the mandatory count by the referee, who stopped the fight in one minute and 30 seconds in the first round.

Gemino improved his record to 15 wins with seven knockouts against seven losses and one draw. It was only the first setback suffered by Clary, who climbed the ring with 19 straight wins and 13 knockouts.

?Sobrang saya po kami ditto kasama ng aking manager,? said Gemino, whose wife Chedilyn is now also labouring their first baby boy in the hospital in Cagayan de Oro City.

Because of Gemino?s impressive win against their boxer Clary, the Top Rank Promotions are now negotiating for Gemino?s next possible fight in the US according to Gemino?s manager Cayetano Gandeza Jr. of Kambal Kamao Boxing Stable from Lipa City.

The 24-year old Gemino also previously knockout out Toto Helebe (17-6-0) in the 7th round last August 5 at the Emerald Casino in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, South Africa to win the vacant WBA Inter-Continental super bantamweight title.

Gemino, a native of Lipa City, also captured the Philippine super bantamweight title by a unanimous decision against Andrew Palas last March 13 in Iligan City.

Before he won the WBA Inter-Continental title, Gemino first bowed to unbeaten Christian Gonzales by a UD last June 4 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, USA.

Gemino, who is trained by Jeffrey O?ate is also a former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight champion. Gemino and his team are expected to arrive home in Manila on Monday morning.
