AMNAT RUENROENG VOWS TO WIN A MEDAL FOR HIS FAMILY AND COUNTRY IN THE RIO OLYMPICS

Former IBF world flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand has vowed to win a medal in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics for his family and his country.
The Bangkok Post reported that Amnat, who lost his title in a rematch with Filipino Johnreil Casimero who stopped the Thai in the 4th round said "my physical condition has gradually improved".
He will fight in the lightweight division. Amnat said "the weather here (Rio) is fine and I will try to win a medal for the nation and my family."
Amnat said he isn't homesick because he uses his Smart phone to talk to his wife and son every day. He said "my son told me to bring back a medal while my wife told me to give my all."
It will be the 36 year old Amnat's second appearance in the Olympics having lost in the quarter finals of the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he lost to Mongolia's Purevtorjin Serdamba, the Thai and his camp claimed they were robbed of victory.
Amnat who successfully defended his IBF flyweight title against China's Zou Shiming last year lost the b elt to the Philippines Johnreil Casimero a few months ago. He planned to move up to super flyweight but was persuaded to make a comeback to the national team after the international governing body AIBA allowed professionals decided to allow pro boxers to participate in the Olympics.
Amnat earned a ticket to Rio in a qualifying tournament earlier this month. He will compete along with three other male and one female boxer in the Olympics.
