STATEMENT FROM BOB ARUM ON THE PASSING OF MUHAMMAD ALI
"A true great has left us. Muhammad Ali transformed this country and impacted the world with his spirit. His legacy will be part of our history for all time."
* Bob Arum, 84, promoted more Ali fights than anyone. On March 29, he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his first promotion -- Ali vs. George Chuvalo. It was also the first fight Arum, ever attended. Arum is Founder and CEO of Top Rank, Inc.
STATEMENT FROM MANNY PACQUIAO ON THE PASSING OF MUHAMMAD ALI
"We lost a giant today. Boxing benefitted from Muhammad Ali's talents but not nearly as much as mankind benefitted from his humanity. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Ali family. May God bless them."
** Pacquiao, 37, is the only man in boxing history to win world titles in eight different weight divisions. Selected as the Fighter of the Decade by the Boxing Writers Association of America, Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38 KOs) retired on April 9 after defeating former two-division world champion Timothy Bradley. A former two-term congressman who represented the Sarangani province in the Philippines, Pacquiao was elected to the Philippine Senate with over 16 million votes in May.
