LEAGUE OF FISTS SEMI-FINALS AND SEASON 2 MATCHES DAY 1

PhilBoxing.com

SHANGHAI, CHINA ? The first two semi-final bouts for the LEAGUE OF FISTS got underway Friday with contrasting wins for super featherweights Liu Yongcai and Pan Jinxiang.

Liu Yongcai relied on a swarming offense and sheer guts to beat Li Leshan by unanimous decision. Liu fought through a one centimeter vertical cut above his left eyebrow caused by a head butt in the third and pummeled Li when he got in close.

Li was exhausted at the end of the fifth but seemed to get his second wind at the start of the sixth and final round. But Liu scored a knockdown and even after Li beat the count of Referee Danrex Tapdasan, Liu continued his onslaught.
Scores ? Zhu Yuwen and Salven Lagumbay ? 58-55, Mekin Sumon ? 59-54.

Pan Jinxiang knocked down Feng Yongle in the opening round due to a body punch and used a series of right hand leads against the southpaw Feng in the subsequent round.
With Feng receiving more punishment in the third, Referee Han Hongxiang stopped the fight at the 1:25 mark.

The opening of the second season of the League of Fists boxing tournament was also announced Thursday in a press conference held at the Shanghai Marriot Hotel Luwan. SECA CEO Sheng Li highlighted the success of the first season.

Season two will have additional weight categories ranging from junior flyweight to light heavyweight. Prize money awaits not just the boxers, but the trainers who send their fighters to the semi-finals and finals. The winners will get a WBO belt crowning them the Greater China champions and a best boxer of the tournament will also be chosen.

The first batch of season two boxers also had their weigh-in at the Marriot Luwan supervised by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.

For the League?s second round results:
Wu Rongguo stopped Chen Zehong with a body punch in the opening junior flyweight bout. Referee Mekin Sumon stopped the fight at the 41 second mark of the opening round.
Chen Sen prevailed by unanimous verdict over Aman Bahetiyaer in their super bantamweight match. Scores ? 40-36 from Surat Soikrachang, Tao Zhendong and Zhao Yubin.

Light heavyweight southpaw Li Hongfeng befuddled and outboxed Pan Hao and won by 39-37 from judges Danrex Tapdasan, Samson Iu and Tao Zhendong.
Li Guangxiong won by majority decision against Zeng Yujie in their junior flyweight bout. Scores ? 40-36 from Salven Lagumbay and Yin Haiyang, 38-38 from Yang Hong.

Superbantamweight Liu Zhong beat Yin Changjin by TKO in the third round. Referee Danrex Tapdasan stopped the bout at the 1:36 mark with Yin at the receiving end of several hard punches.

In another light heavyweight match-up, Zhao Xiaoyu floored Li Ze with a searing counter right in the opening round and cruised to a unanimous decision win. Scores ? Yin Haiyang and Feng Yaocheng ? 39-36, Yang Hong ? 38-37.

Mu Xiaolu mauled Gao Yiping and won by TKO in the third round of their superbantamweight fight. Gao suffered a nosebleed in the second round and his right eye was swollen shut in the third prompting the stoppage from Referee Samson Iu. Time 1:58.

Superbantamweight Mai Qingxian soundly outboxed Jiao Daijian to win by 40-36 on the scorecards of Han Hongxiang, Samson Iu and Zhu Yuwen.
The fights were held in Yun Space in Shanghai. The League of Fists is promoted by SECA and TOP RANK.
