NBA -- Heat roasts Pelicans in OT, 94-88 By Roman David Garay PhilBoxing.com Sun, 27 Dec 2015 MIAMI- It was another gift-wrapped victory for the Heat, Friday at American Airlines Arena as they held off the New Orleans Pelicans, 94-88 in overtime. The win marked their seventh straight Christmas Day win on this day of giving. Chris Bosh scored 30 points and 10 rebounds while Dwyane Wade added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The two All-Stars combined for 13 of Miami's 16 points in extra period. The win moved them past the Portland Blazers and catapulted the Heat to an NBA-best 10-2 all time on Christmas Day. The victory against the Pelicans spoiled the debut of Anthony Davis on this particular holiday, but it didn't come easy as both teams shot barely 40 percent from the field and so in the words of Wade It was an ugly win.. "Just an ugly game by both teams, but in this league you've got to win the pretty ones and the ugly ones," said Wade. "It wasn't going right for us, Chris had it going to keep us afloat but at the end, I think it just came down to getting some great stops and we got some timely buckets." Bosh indeed did and also had his hands full against a younger and the most talented big man in the league right now in Davis, who finished with 29 points and hauled in 15 rebounds. " He was shooting in my face all night and making quite a bit, so I wanted to return the favor,? Bosh said. ?In a matchup like that, I take it very seriously. Christmas Day, against one of the best in the league, I?m going to rise to the occasion.? New Orleans were ahead 42-38 at the half and had a chance to come out with a victory in regulation, but Anthony Davis missed a jumper as the time expired. Ryan Anderson added 18 points and 8 rebounds while Eric Gordon padded 16 points more in the loss. "That's why I get paid the big bucks, to win games for us down the stretch," a disappointed Davis said after the game, "I was actually missing." The Pelicans have now dropped to 9-20 as teams approach near halfway through the season while Miami has improved to 17-11 and third in the East.
