By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Fri, 18 Dec 2015

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA ? A WBO female world championship fight will serve as the vehicle to kick start professional boxing here in this island country in South Asia.
Nao Ikeyama (16W-3L-1D, 4KO?s) of Japan will defend her WBO atomweight (102lbs) world title against Filipina challenger Jujeath Nagaowa (13W-15L-1D, 8KO?s) this Saturday at the Stein Studios in Colombo.
Also set to see action is another female Japanese boxer, OPBF super flyweight titlist Tamao Ozawa (9-2-0,2KO?s) who will engage in a non-title contest against Thai Kledpetch Lookmuangkan (6-4, 1KO).
The press launching, signing ceremony and weigh-in for this event was held Friday noon inside the Stein Studios.
WBO Asia Pacific chief Leon Panoncillo complimented the hosts and compared the beauty of Sri Lanka to his hometown of Hawaii. Professional boxing will be making its initial steps here in this event organized by Yasushi Hirayama of Futur Promotions Japan and Daisuke Kato of the Global Sports Academy of Japan. This is organized hand and hand with Capital Maharaja Sports Organization of Sri Lanka.

Both Ikeyama and Nagaowa stepped on the scales at 101 lbs. They are set to fight for ten rounds.
This will be the third defense for Ikeyama who has beaten Filipina boxers Norj Guro and Jessebelle Pagaduan. Nagaowa won the Women?s IBA international light flyweight belt in Macau last June by unanimous decision against China?s Yu Jie Lu.
Ozawa and Kledpetch also both weighed 114 lbs for their eight rounder.
This event will be officiated and supervised by Professional Boxing Commission (PBC), International, an organization that has had much experience running professional fight cards for Top Rank and SECA in Macau and mainland China.
