CHICAGO -- Trailing 53-50 in the opening half, the Chicago Bulls roared back with a 48-32 run in the second half to beat the visiting Memphis Grizzlies, 98-85, on Wednesday night at the United Center.
Jimmy Butler topscored for the Bulls with 24 points while former league MVP Derrick Rose added 19. The Bulls' All-Star backcourt shot a combined 19 of 41 field goals and dished a total of nine assists. Doug McDermott swished 4-of-8 form long distance to finish with 17 markers while Pau Gasol registered another solid double-double, 10 points and 14 boards.
Bulls center Joakin Noah, who came off the bench with three points, five assists and six rebounds, was pretty impressed with his team's effort, particularly the leadership Butler and Rose showed.
"It just adds another dimension to our team when those guys are vocal and pushing guys. Today was definitely the best I've seen," Noah told the Associated Press.
With their fourth consecutive victory, the Bulls improved to 15-8, second overall in the Eastern Conference behind the 16-7 Cleveland Cavaliers.
Courtney Lee led Memphis with 18 points and six assists while Jeff Green and JaMychal Green recorded 11 each. Zach Randolph had 10 points and 11 boards while Marc Gasol finished with only eight points as the Grizzlies converted a mere 32 of 76 shots (42.1 percent).
Memphis, which fell to sixth place in the Western Conference with a 14-13 record, made only 5-of-19 triples against the Bulls on Wednesday. The Grizzlies also struggled from the free throw line, 16 of 28 (57.1 percent).
