NBA Exclusive: Manny Pacquiao to Derrick Rose: "Thank you for the signed jersey" By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Mon, 27 Apr 2015 MILWAUKEE -- In the course of his immensely decorated six seasons in the NBA, Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose has so far dished out 2,205 assists. On Saturday night in Milwaukee, after Game 4 of the Bulls versus Bucks first-round series at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, Rose handed one precious assist. And the recipient was a very happy Manny Pacquiao. Well, technically, it wasn't an assist. It was more like a joyful pass, from one No.1 to another. "Send Manny my regards and best of luck to him," the 6-foot-3 point guard told PhilBoxing.com after he scribbled his famous name in a Bulls jersey that will soon end up in the mighty hands of Pacquiao, boxing's Fighter of the Decade and the "National Fist" of the Philippines. It's no secret that Rose, who visited the Philippines a few summers ago, is a Pacquiao fan. But because the Bulls are very much alive and well in the ongoing NBA playoffs, Rose won't be able to travel to Las Vegas to witness the Pacquiao versus Mayweather fight live at ringside at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. However, Rose, a 3-time All-Star and the 2009 NBA Rookie of the Year, will watch the historic May 2 duel on pay-per-view. "Please tell Derrick thank you for the signed jersey," Pacquiao told PhilBoxing.com when this writer reached him via cellular phone in Los Angeles. "I'm glad to see that he is playing real well in the playoffs. I hope the Bulls can make a deep run," the hard-punching lefty added. Although he is obviously busy for his upcoming date with Floyd Mayweather, Pacquiao said he will be sure to send over some signed items for the 26-year old Rose.
