FIGHT OF THE YEAR! MATTHYSSE WINS BY MAJORITY DECISION OVER RUSLAN

PhilBoxing.com

Verona, NY -- The projected fight of the year lived up to the hype as Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov threw bombs without let up to put the Turning Stone Resort Casino to the edge of their seats.

Round 1. Matthysse landed more jabs. Provodnikov's face all red right now.

Round 2. Matthysse continuedd the onslaught. Jabs, body attacks... Provodnikov is cut on the left eyebrow. But Provodnikov finished strong. Another round for Matthysse.

Round 3. Wow! this should be the fight of the year. Matthysse and Provodnikov exchanging bombs! Matthysse still got the best of the exchange! Matthysse 3 rounds to none...

Round 4. Provodnikov cant be denied, he landed the more cleaner bombs on this round. Forced Matthysse to clinch. A good round for the Russian Provodnikov.

Round 5. Matthysse knows that he lost round 4. He threw more jabs this time and uppercuts are connecting. Clearly a Matthysse round!

Round 6. Double jabs- straight- uppercuts, body shots all are connecting for Matthysse. Frustrating round for the Siberian Rocky, but man Ruslan can take a punch! Unbelievable fight! Matthysse round.

Round 7. Lucas Matthysse looked tired of throwing those combination and Provodnikov is still standing in front of him. Matthysse's round.

Round 8. Those blinding jabs are doing the job for Matthysse. Provodnikov rallied in the middle of the round but still it's not enough to win the round. Lucas connected more.

Round 9. Very close round, it could go either way. Provodnikov landed the heavier punches but Matthysse won the jabs. I give it to Provodnikov hes still very dangerous.

Round 10. Another close round but I give it to Matthysse this time as he continued to throw those jabs that resulted to a combination to the body and uppercuts. Provodnikov had some moments but is not enough again.

Round 11. Did I tell you that Provodnikov still very dangerous? He just connected a series of left hooks that wobbled Lucas Matthysse. Matthysse was hurt. Wow! this is a boxing! Provodnikov.

Round 12. Matthysse is still hurt coming in to the penultimate round! Crowd went crazy as the action continues. No boring moment. Provodnikov finished strong.

8 rounds to 4. Matthysse. Duljoman's scorecard.

Judges scorecards: 114-114, 115-113, 115-113. Lucas Matthysse won by a majority decision!
