Hornets Rout Pistons, 102-78
By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Fri, 03 Apr 2015

CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte Hornets had a strong start and went on to trounce the visiting Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
Marvin Williams scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds while Kemba Walker scored all his 17 points in the first half to help the Hornets keep their flickering playoffs bid alive.
'We jumped on them early and we were able to keep them away." Marvin Williams said. "Everybody knows how much these last games mean to our team, so everybody's going to come out and try to put their best foot forward."
The Hornets led 33-25 after the first quarter as they capitalized on Center Andre Drummond's early foul trouble. Al Jefferson, already playing with an injured right knee was hit with an elbow to the face by Drummond just two minutes into the game. He remained in the game and Drummond was called for a flagrant 1 foul.
The Hornets broke the game wide open in the second period leading by as many as 20 points 49-29. They were never seriously threatened after that. The Pistons shot a dismal .352 from the field, the lowest by a Hornets opponent this season.
Pistons' head coach Stan Van Gundy was vey displeased with his boys. "We were not ready to play when the game started and it wasn't one guy, it was everybody. And when you're not ready to play, it's going to be a long night."
Jodie Meeks had 15 points for the Pistons while Drummond finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Gerald Henderson had 14 points while Mo Williams tallied 13 points and six assists for the Hornets.
The Hornets improved to 32-42, two games behind Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets (34-40) who are tied for the seventh place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
The Pistons fell to 29-46 with eight games remaining in the season.
The Hornets will visit the Indiana Pacers while the Pistons will face the Chicago Bulls on the road this Friday.
