SULAIMAN VISITS PACQUIAO IN L.A.

LOS ANGELES ? World Boxing Council (WBC) president Mauricio Sulaiman dropped by the house of world eight-division boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao on Saturday afternoon to wish him good luck.

?I came here to visit Manny Pacquiao, the WBO Welterweight champion, and to wish him good luck for his forthcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr.,? Sulaiman said.

Sulaiman was accompanied by Robert J.B. Lenhardt, the WBC secretary general and chief counsel.

The May 2 megafight is a unification bout for the WBO, WBA and WBC Welterweight belts.

Pacquiao currently holds the WBO title while Mayweather owns the WBC and WBA crowns.

During the visit, Pacquiao and Sulaiman exchanged pleasantries and recalled the moments when the Pinoy boxing superstar served as WBC champion in four different weight categories.

Pacquiao previously held titles in the WBC Flyweight, WBC Super Featherweight, WBC Lightweight and WBC Light Middleweight divisions.

?Manny Pacquiao had a long history with the WBC. He?s a great champion. This coming May 2, he would be fighting for Mayweather?s WBC Welterweight title. We are glad that this fight had materialized,? Sulaiman told a handful of reporters present during his visit.

The WBC president presented WBC souvenir items ? jackets, caps, t-shirts, miniature belts, logo and patches ? to Pacquiao.

Pacquiao thanked the two WBC officials for spending time to visit him.

?I appreciate their kindness and I thanked them for taking time out from their busy schedule to visit me here. WBC is part of my life and career as my first and eight world titles in boxing were at the WBC flyweight and WBC Light Middleweight divisions,? Pacquiao said.
