NBA -- Pacers outlast Bulls to win four in a row By Anthony Rozic PhilBoxing.com Sun, 08 Mar 2015 CHICAGO -- The Indiana Pacers outlasted the Chicago Bulls, 98-84, in a tough defensive battle on Friday night at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Despite shooting just 36 percent from the field and falling behind by 11 points in the third quarter, the Bulls showed typical resiliency and recaptured the lead -68-66- courtesy of a pair of free throws from rookie E'Twaun Moore with still 11:41 left in the fourth period. But the Pacers, who shot just 42.5 percent from the field, went on a 32-16 run the rest of the way to capture their season-high fourth straight win. Six Pacers scored in double figures with Solomon Hill getting 16 points and five boards. Ian Mahinmi had 14 and 11 rebounds while Rodney Stuckey had 12 and five assists. C.J. Watson finished with 11 points while David West and C.J. Miles added 10 apiece. Playing without injured stars Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler, the Bulls were led by Pau Gasol's 18 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie Doug McDermott had a season-high 16 points in 16 minutes off the bench while Mike Dunleavy had 14. The Bulls lost the rebounding battle, 51-44, and had three fewer assists with 20. And they simply ran out of steam in their second game in their second game in as many nights. "We just couldn't finish our defense as well as we could have," Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau told ESPN about the Pacers' final quarter blitz. The win catapulted the Pacers to eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 27-34 record. And with Paul George expected to return to the lineup next season, things are looking up even more the Pacers. Despite the loss, the 39-24 Bulls remained in second place in the East as 38-24 Raptors fell to the Hornets, 103-94, also on Friday night.
