NBA -- Mavericks pound LeBron-less Cavs, 109-90
By Mariano Cueva PhilBoxing.com Mon, 05 Jan 2015

CLEVELAND -- Without LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers were no match against the firepower of the visiting Dallas Mavericks on Sunday at the Quicken Loans Arena.
The Mavs, winners of five straight, manhandled the Cavs by converting 44 of 78 field goals, including a 12 for 26 fare from 3-point range.
Monta Ellis led Dallas with 20 while Dirk Nowitzki added 15 and five boards. Chandler Parsons, Tyson Chandler and J.J. Barea each had 14 as the Mavericks improved to 25-10 to stay in fifth place in the Western Conference standings.
Kevin Love tried to carry Cleveland to triumph with a 30-point effort, but he got little help as Shawn Marion scored only 13 points and Kyrie Irving was held to six points on 2-for-9 shooting.
It was the Cavs' fifth game without James this season and they are 1-4 without the four-time MVP.
The setback dropped Cleveland's record to 19-15, a mere sixth place in the wide open Eastern Conference.
