NBA -- Nowitzki moves up to No.8 in the all-time scoring list

SAN FRANCISCO -- Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki moved up to No.8 in the NBA's all-time scoring list, bumping Hall-of-Famer Elvin Hayes to the No.9 spot.
Nowtizki reached the milestone on Friday night when he scored 14 points in the Mavericks' 102-98 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
Following the modest 14-point haul, Nowitzki's career total is now 27,322 points, eclipsing Hayes' output of 27,313.
Now 36, the 7-foot Nowitzki was picked No.9 in the NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, who traded him to Dallas where he has spent all of his 17 years in the league.
"I'm fortunate to have great teammates to put me in position to keep scoring, even as I'm older," Nowitzki told ESPN.com. (JCQ).
