NBA -- Kobe shrugs off 10 turnovers, helps Lakers trounce Pistons
By Anthony Rozic PhilBoxing.com Thu, 04 Dec 2014

DETROIT -- Kobe Bryant committed 10 of his team's 14 turnovers but compensated for it with 13 assists to help the Los Angeles Lakers dismiss the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan on Tuesday night.
Bryant, 36, missed seven of 11 field goals to finish with a modest harvest of 12 points and five rebounds. He sparked the Lakers' dominant third quarter, which was more than enough to beat a struggling Pistons team that made only 33 of 90 field goals (36.7 percent) and just 6-for-21 from 3-point country (28.6 percent).
As Kobe struggled, however, plenty stepped up for the purple-and-gold franchise.
Jordan Hill flourished with 22 points and 13 rebounds while Nick Young had 19. Carlos Boozer joined the fray with 14 and seven boards and Wesley Johnson turned in 13 and four steals. The Lakers made 39 of 81 shots, including 10 of 17 above the 3-point arc.
Josh Smith led the Pistons 18, 10 rebounds and six assists while D.J. Agustin contributed 13. Caron Bulter tallied 13 and Brandon Jennings missed eight of 10 shots to settle for 10.
The Pistons' overall effort clearly didn't please head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy, who told reporters during his post-game press conference, "Offensively, we continue to be awful. We are really messed up as a team, a lot of dilemmas....We are not mentally in the right place right now."
Despite a talent-laden roster the Pistons have underwhelmed this season and dropped to 14th place in the Eastern Conferene with a 3-15 record.
The Lakers won their second straight and improved to 5-13.
