NBA -- Knicks extend Sixers' winless streak to 13
By Ben Paz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 24 Nov 2014
NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks got back on the winning track with a 91-83 win over the still winless Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.
Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 25 points while Amar'e Stoudemire added 16 points and 11 rebounds in less than 20 minutes off of the bench. Quincy Acy, who started at power forward, contributed 10 points.
The Knicks improved their record to 4-13 record and they got a bit of good news when point guard Jose Calderon made his season debut.
"He (Jose Calderon) missed a couple shots, a little tired, a little rust, that's something we're not worried about. Our morale as a team, it was good, seing him out there tonight" Anthony told reporters after the game.
Although they were down double digits for most of the game, the Sixers fought back and sliced the deficit to single digits a few times. They, however, couldn't mount a complete comeback.
Nerlens Noel led the 76ers with 17 points and 12 rebounds and was the only starter to score in double figures. Robert Covington tallied 14 points off the bench while Hollis Thompson scored 10.
The 76ers now have a 0-13 record. They are two away from matching their franchise worst start at 0-15 and five games from NBA all-time record of 0-18.
New York travels to Texas on Sunday to play the Houston Rockets while Philadelphia hosts the Portland Trailblazers Sunday night. (BP)
