Sonny Boy Jaro leaves for DC to challenge for WBC Super Flyweight crown
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Fri, 31 Oct 2014

Former World Boxing Council flyweight champion, Sonny Boy Jaro left Manila last night via Etihad Airways, two full weeks before he gets another crack at a world title in Washington, DC.
Jaro, (37-13-5, 27 KOs) will be facing unbeaten WBC Super Flyweight titlist, Carlos Cuadras (30-0-1, 24 KOs) of Mexico in a 12 round championship match at the Washington Hilton in DC.
The 32 year old boxer out of Silay, City Negros Occidental left Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) with trainer George Sol for a day long flight to the capital of the United States with a stopover in Abu Dhabi.
Jaro and Sol trained at the Jaro Boxing Gym which is owned by his manager, Aljoe Jaro. He told Philboxing.com that his training went well and he primarily sparred with super featherweight boxer Edgar Gabejan and super bantamweight Jhunriel Ramonal in preparation for this bout.
Manager and co-trainer, Aljoe Jaro will be joining the duo in DC next week and will be in his boxer?s corner alongside Sol. He seconded that Sonny Boy did well in his training and that his boxer will have no problem making the 115 pound weight limit for the fight.
?Maganda ang ensayo nga sa ngayon, walang presure na nangyari. Relax na relax siya.?
(His training was good, he is very relax. There was no pressure during training.)
Sonny Boy weighed 122 lbs. before boarding for DC yesterday, seven pounds shy of the required weight.
This will be Sonny Boy?s second shot at title belt in the last three years (Jaro is 5-3 since 2012) and against another favored champion in the younger Cuadras (26).
The Filipino shocked the boxing world when he knocked out legendary Thai champ, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in Thailand on March 2, 2012 to win the WBC 112 pound title in what was boxing?s biggest upset of that year.
Sonny Boy Jaro who will be coming as the underdog again, this time versus Cuedras, promised that he will give it his all when he steps in that Capitol Hill boxing ring on November 13th.
