With an intense love for his Motherland and a desire to serve his country, the Republic of the Philippines, the reigning Filipino IBF Super Flyweight World Champion Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas has successfully joined today the Philippines Navy.

A current world champion, Ancajas is now active in the Philippines Navy and has being assigned rank by the Philippine Naval Reserve Command as Chief Petty Officer. The donning of rank was officiated by Philippines Navy Chief Vice-Admiral Robert Empedrad. Empedrad is the Flag Officer in Command (FOIC) of the Philippine Navy.

"Pretty Boy" Ancajas, born on new year's day of 1992 in the beautiful and peaceful southern Filipino City of Panabo in the Province of Davao del Norte - captured his IBF Super Flyweight world title in September of 2016 by outclassing Puerto Rican fighter McJoe Arroyo. The 12-rounder took place at the Philippine Marine Corps Fort Bonifacio.

Since the winning of his red and golden IBF world belt, the 26 year-old Jerwin Ancajas (30-1-1, 20 KO's), has successfully defended it five times, four of them by stoppage.

Ancajas has defended his title stopping Mexican Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in Macao, ravaging with a body attack Japanese Teiru Kinoshita in six chapters Brisbane Australia, overpowering Irishman Jamie Conlan in six rounds in Belfast Northern Ireland, stopping Mexican Israel Gonzalez in ten rounds in Corpus Christi Texas. and more recently defended title for a fifth time outclassing in an ESPN televised fight fellow Filipino Jonas Sultan in Fresno, California.

After claiming victories, the winning Jerwin Ancajas has been congratulated in person by the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

Boxing has proven to be the work and passion of Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas. His wife and kids are the love of his life, and the Philippine Navy is now his new chosen commitment.

The Philippine Navy is the naval warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

It has an estimated strength of 24,000 active service personnel, including the 7,500-strong Philippine Marine Corps. The Philippine Navy shares the responsibility of patrolling and protecting the maritime borders of the Philippines, together with the Philippine Coast Guard.
