CEBU CITY – Below are the preliminary bout results on the Milan Melindo vs Hekkie Budler IBF world junior flyweight championship at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino here Saturday night.

5th fight, 10 rounds bantamweight: Two-time world title challenger 'King' Arthur Villanueva won by TKO in the 3rd round over fellow two-time world title challenger Richie Mepranum who refused to come out in the 4th round. Arthur Villanueva (31-2-0, 1&KOs), 28 of Bacolod City came after Mepranum (31-7-1, 8KOs), 30, of Maasim, Sarangani, without letup enveloping Mepranum with left crosses, right hooks and straights to the head and body. Although Mepranum evaded many of those shots from Villanueva, the ones that hit their mark, mostly in the body had sapped Mepranum's energy forcing him to give up the fight at the end of the third round. Cataraja (R) throws a left over Ugbaniel.

4th fight, 8 rounds flyweight: Kevin Jake Cataraja (7-0-0, 6KOs), 22, of Cebu City sent Wiljan Ugbaniel (13-5-1, 4KOs), of General Santos City twice to the canvas in the 2nd round en route to a 2nd round knockout victory. Time: 1:56. Cataraja, a multi-titled amateur, was too sharp for Ugbaniel hitting the GenSan native with precision in the body and in the head. A vicious left cross to the body first sent Ugbaniel to the canvas. A right to the head moments later sent Ugbaniel again to the canvas unable to beat the referee's count.

Vitor (L) tags Bais with a left.

3rd fight, 8 rounds super bantamweight: Virgel Vitor (11-1-0, 7KOs), 20, of Tagbilaran City made short work of Alvin Bais (15-10-1, 4KOs), 29, of General Santos City knocking out Bais in the very first round with a lethal right cross to the body. Time: 2:49 of the 1st round.

Gentallan (R) throws a right against Stella.

2nd fight, 6 rounds super flyweight: Kenneth Paul Gentallan (6-0-1, 3KOs), 21, of Maribojoc, Bohol scored a knockdown in the 2nd round en route to a unanimous decision win over Jeffrey Stella (4-4-1, 4KOs), Mandaue City. Scores: 59-54, 59-54 and 60-53 in favor of Gentallan.
