About Joma Gamboa

Joma Gamboa (born March 25, 1973, in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental) is a retired Filipino professional boxer who competed from 1993 to 2004. A southpaw stylist, he captured the WBA minimumweight title in 2000 by defeating Songkram Porpaoin, becoming one of the Philippines’ world champions in the lighter divisions. Gamboa defended the belt once before losing it to Keitaro Hoshino later that year. He also challenged for the IBF minimumweight crown in 2001. His professional record stands at 33 wins (22 KOs), 8 losses, and 2 draws, marking him as a notable figure in the country’s boxing history.
