Ricky Hatton is letting his thoughts be known on the Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather jr bout scheduled for May 5. Hatton dissed Mayweather for being obnoxious and wishes that De La Hoya will give Mayweather a beating. Hatton also praised Kostya Tszyu for going out like a Class act.
Quoted by Jeff Haney for scrippsnews, Hatton spoke on Mayweather, saying: “Mayweather’s probably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but everyone thinks he’s an (obnoxious person),” Hatton added: “I’d like to see Oscar give him a bit of a (beating).”
Hatton admits he was turned off by Mayweather’s showboating during a recent tour to hype his fight against De La Hoya.
“I don’t want people (looking back on my career) and saying, ‘Yeah, he can fight, but what a (jerk),’ ” said Hatton.”Every city he was up in Oscar’s face. What’s the point of that? Is he going to scare Oscar?
Hatton would like to take the example Tszyu did in retirement, saying: “When the day comes that I get beat, or I have my last fight, I want to go out like Kostya Tszyu _ a class act.”
