Former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs has been on a taunting tour that could easily be interpreted as harassment by the man he so desperately wants a payday fight with. Current world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko was recently minding his business eating some Pasta at a restaurant in Miami, Florida when Briggs busted into the joint screaming and hollering.
Klitschko remained calm as Briggs stood before him pounding his chest, and screaming ?Everywhere you go, I go champ. What you eat, I eat.? Briggs then snatched the champs pasta plate and began eating from it.
So let’s take a look at this action first. Is this fact or faked? Well if it’s fact, then Briggs has more to worry about than a cut foot. Legally speaking, that’s called theft, and legal charges could be filed against him. If this action was faked, then it’s just part of a hype job in order to ramp up a heavyweight fight.
As Briggs took it upon himself to steal the champs food, the champ poured some water into a glass and poured it over the unwanted guests head. This triggered a fury in Briggs who then started swiping glass plates, and glasses, which smashed onto the floor.
So let’s take a look at this action. Was it fact or faked? Well if It was fact, then Briggs legally speaking is looking at more charges. The restaurant can easily file vandalism charges, and disturbing the peace charges against him. Disrupting a public business, and creating such a violent scene in a public restaurant is easily a criminal offense. If this action was faked, then again, it’s just part of a hype job to ramp up a fight.
The last time Briggs fought a Klitschko, he ended up in a German hospital with a literal broken face. It was a hard fight to watch. Briggs received some brutal head shots, and truth be told, I was very concerned about it. Those types of head shots have dangerous long term repercussions.
So is the Briggs taunting tour a hype job? Definitely. It’s designed to hype up a fight that Briggs wants badly. Can these types of behaviors land Briggs some legal issues? It’s possible. It depends if Klitschko is in on all of this or not. It also depends if the restaurant in Florida was in on it or not. If not, they have a legal case. It’s not legal to walk into a restaurant and smash their property.
Do I blame Briggs for doing what he’s doing? Nah, I can’t blame the guy. He’s trying to make some money. He’s a fighter, he fights, and that’s how he makes a living. That said, he better be careful on two different fronts. He needs to be careful not to do something that can land him in jail, and he needs to be careful what he wishes for.
