This is formidable Filipino poltician Darlene Antonino Custodio. She comes from a powerful political clan. And she is ready to mix it up in a Congressional seat race with national idol Manny Pacquaio.
Their fight ends on May 14 with elections which fall a month after Pacman faces Jorge Solis of Mexico in a big PPV fight in San Antonio.
As usual, insiders are buzz, buzz, buzzing, about Ms. Custodio. What kind of a verbal jab does she have? If political rookie Manny leans in too close and makes a mistake, can she nail him with a strong uppercut? Can she hook off the job? Being a veteran politico you’ve got to guess she has excellent footwork. Is the Custodio clan a Filipino equivalent to the the Kennedys back in the day when John, Robert and Ted were running things?
What is Ms. Custodio’s take on heavyweight unification, on sanctioning fees and on open scoring? Oops sorry, I must have got my sports mixed up.
Let’s hear it from you Pinoy pontificators? We know Manny will put Solis’ lights out in Tejas but what about Ms. Custodio? Will she beat Manny by electoral decision or score a smashing ballot box TKO? Is she rougher and tougher in the politcal clinches than Hillary Clinton. Hill can get down like Marvelous Marvin Hagler when need be.
But I hear that dazzling Darlene does not even know a left hook from a fish hook. I hear she thought the ring is something your fiance gives you. I hear she wouldn’t know Freddie Roach from a cockroach. I hear she can’t even name Pretty Boy Floyd’s father and his two boxing uncles. She wouldn’t know Ray Austin from Austin, Texas, either. She thinks Leon, Michael and Cory Spinks all come from ancient Egypt.
