Roger Mayweather was recently quoted by Kevin Iole of the Las Vegas Review Journal saying that his nephew and the fighter he trains, Floyd Mayweather Jr has done everything his May 5th opponent Oscar De La Hoya has accomplished, with the exception of winning a Gold Medal.
Roger in comparing Mayweather Jr’s career to De La Hoya’s feels Mayweather Jr has accomplished everything De La Hoya has, except Mayweather Jr should have won a gold medal in the Olympics but was robbed.
In an interesting quote published recently by the Las Vegas Review Journal, on Friday after a training session with Mayweather Jr at Barry’s Boxing Center, Roger Mayweather stated: “Floyd’s done everything De La Hoya has except win a gold medal and they robbed him of that.”
Mayweather is reported to be a 2-1 favorite to defeat Oscar De La Hoya.
