A court in Las Vegas has denied the petition from Oscar De la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. The petition that was denied was in regards to seeking a preliminary injunction to stop Manny Pacquiao’s scheduled April 14 fight with Jorge Solis. Golden Boy Promotions is claiming they had the promotional rights for Pacquiao because Pacquaio had signed a seven-fight deal in mid-September. Pacquaio also signed a contract two months later to a four-year deal with Bob Arum’s Top Rank. Top Rank is promoting the card on April 14.
Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today is reporting that they have been informed that the injunction was denied because the court could not determine who truly is the rightful promoter at this time.
Franklin ?Jing? Gacal, the lawyer acting on behalf of Pacquiao was happy at the decision, quoted by Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today saying ?this is good for the Filipino people.? Gacal further expects an early resolution on the cases set before the court, adding: ?because of the nature of the profession of Manny just like the case of Murad Muhammad which was expedited.?
