On Saturday night, Juan Manuel Marquez will meet Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Inglewood, California for the WBO international welterweight title. Marquez anticipates a hard-fought contest against Alvarado in their 144-pound bout and he will be getting a nice pay day for the bout.
Marquez is set to earn $1.4 million on the night with Alvarado making $650,000, according to the California State Athletic Commission.
Both fighters enter the bout on the heels of a loss, with Marquez dropping a split-decision to Timothy Bradley in his latest contest while Alvarado suffered a tenth-round stoppage loss to Ruslan Provodnkiov in October.
With a win, there is some discussion that Marquez could be set up for a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao, who he viciously knocked out when they last met in December of 2012, so there will be a lot on the line for the Mexican when he enters the ring.
