LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The standing score in the world boxing championship clashes between the Philippines and Mexico comprises a mismatch: 22-11 in favor of Mexico.
Luisito Espinosa, former WBC featherweight king, has five wins over Mexicans, the most by a Filipino boxer, followed by Manny Pacquiao with three.
Other Filipinos who had won over Mexican foes were the late junior welterweight Roberto Cruz, who stopped Battling Torres, Roland Pascua (over Humberto Gonzales) and the Hawaii-based Jesus Salud (over Juan Estrada).
