Pinoy pride at Solaire

The hard thing about fighters on the rise is that they are supposed to give a good show regardless who the opponents are.

This Saturday night, Genesis ?Azukal? Servania and King Arthur Villanueva take on separate rivals in a show dubbed The Future Is Now (Pinoy Pride 24) at the Grand Ballroom of the Solaire Resort and Casino.

Servania (23-0 with nine KOs) faces former world champion Alexander ?Explosivo? Munoz (36-5 with 28 KOs) in a scheduled 12-rounder for the World Boxing Organization Intercontinental junior-featherweight title.

In the main supporting bout, Villanueva (24-0 with 14 KOs) meets Mexican Fernando Aguilar (9-6 with one KO) in a 10-round super-fly match.

Dennis Canete, vice-president of ALA Boxing, said the pressure is on for Servania and Villanueva to put on a show of force.

?The fact is that their opponents have nothing to lose and everything to gain while our fighters have everything to lose,? said Canete during yesterday?s PSA Forum.

Another rising star from the ALA stable, Albert Pagara (18-0 with 12 KOs) clashes with Isack Junior (22-4-2 with eight KOs) of Indonesia in another scheduled tenner at super-bantam.

Servania and Villanueva, who both hail from Bacolod City, have expressed their readiness to fight for the world title and are using this weekend?s fights as a yardstick.
