Three Filipino fighters, including former world champion Marvin Sonsona, will appear in a slambang slugfest in Macau this weekend.
Sonsona faces fellow ex-world titleholder Akifumi Shimoda of Japan in a 12-round featherweight match for the World Boxing Organization International crown on Saturday night at the CotaiArena in Macau.
Promoted by Bob Arum?s Top Rank Inc., two other Filipinos ? featherweight Harmonito dela Torre and bantamweight Jerwin Ancajas ? are also set to strut their stuff against respective foreign foes.
Ancajas (18-1-1 with 10 KOs) meets Thailand?s Inthanon Sithchanong (20-11-6 with four KOs), while Dela Torre (11-0 with six KOs) collides with Yakobus Heluka of Indonesia in the curtainraiser.
Sonsona (17-1-1 with 14 KOs), managed by Cebu?s Sammy Gello-ani, faces a make-or-break fight against the touted Shimoda (28-3-2 with 12 KOs), who is on a five-fight winning streak.
But Sonsona is likewise on a winning skein, having won his last three bouts.
The main event features Zou Shiming, the Chinese Olympic legend who Arum is promoting in the Chinese market.
Macau has lately been staging bigtime boxing with the last starring Manny Pacquiao against Brandon Rios.
