Michael Marley, Unpaid Pacman Political Adviser
Vox Populi Landslide! Stay Out Of Dirty Political Infighting, Pacman!

Vox populi is the Latin term for the voice of the people. And, as Manny Pacquaio’s unpaid adviser on politics and any other subject from A (Arum) to Z (Gorres), I must go to my client, who I work for pro bono (the public good) and give him the sad news.

I must now reveal to Pacman, who thankfully has started preparation in a GenSan gym for his April 14 San Antonio fight with Mexican dangerman Jorge Solis, that the voice of the people is screaming at their beloved idol to take a chill pill from the dirty political scene.

His electorate, his people, responding to the Boxingconfidential.com and to the always terrific Pacland site, are pleading for their ring hero to not toss his derby into the filthy ring of politricks.

To his credit, Manny has told our RPI correspondent Salven Lagumbay that the people need to give him some slack because his goal as a politician will be to put food into the stomachs of the poor ones, the pobrecitos as they would say in Mexico. Clearly, Manny’s ambitions are not for personal gain but for idealistic reasons.

Still, Manny, you’ve got to look at the landslide numbers.

With about 12,000 precincts reporting combined, the negative numbers are staggering. The bottom line looks Lyndon Johnson over Barry Goldwater, 1964, when LBJ did bury Barry.

The numbers here are avalanche numbers.

On Pacland, a resounding 91.3 percent of the voters said “no” they do not want to you to be in politics as an elected official. Less than four (3.7) percent voted that you should run for office come May and there were five percent, a collection of idiots I suppose, who “don’t care.”

Here at Boxingconfidential, the numbers were only slightly better. “Hell no” don’t run is how 82 percent of the people voted while only six percent voted affirmatively. That 82 percent is even higher, really, when you combine it with the 13 percent who wondered why you “would mix boxing a dirty business like politics.” Taken together that is a 95 percent negative vote even higher than the 91.3 percent of naysayers on your friendly Pacland site.

Unpaid political adviser, indeed. I guess Marley is out of another job. Which I don’t mind because the pay for this one was putrid. Maybe I can go back to my old job as boxing promoter bagman. Oops, not that kind. I meant in supplying light and heavy bags to some of our outstanding promoters, of course. I would never mess with corruption and graft unless it was all in cash. Maybe I can get on with Hillary or, if I can’t get with Mama, then I roll with Obama.

How say you Pacman? Will you heed the vox populi or is damn the torpedoes and full speed to the ballot box for Congress come may?
