Famed celebrity reporter Elie Seckbach caught up with boxing’s newest star, Marcos ‘El Chino’ Maidana, after the big fight Saturday night.
A happy Maidana, moments following his upset, stated the Broner bout was the best fight of his life and that he would rest before celebrating Sunday.
Mayweather vs Maidana Marcos Maidana insists he’ll explore all options at welterweight.
“I’m ready [and] prepared to fight anybody and would love to fight Mayweather,” said Maidana via a translator.
“I have the power to beat everyone at welterweight.”
“Mayweather is more complicated but he’s not invincible.”
Maidana’s thoughts on Broner ‘Chino’ confidently stated, “When we went in the ring, I knew he [Broner] was going to be mine.”
However, the new WBA welterweight champ conveyed he didn’t get overconfident after the knockdown, realizing Broner had the speed and power to hurt him as well.
“Every time I landed a punch I felt I was hurting him. He also hit very hard so I know I had to be careful.”
“The training… the courage that I had. That’s what won me this fight.”
When asked his thoughts (below) on Broner and the 24 year old’s future, the hard-punching Argentine replied, “Yeah, Broner should be back. He’s a very hard and experienced fighter.”
“He’s got the talent so he should be back.”
Maidana vs Broner 2? “I’ll give it [rematch] to him. There is no drama,” uttered Maidana.
Other possible candidates for Maidana’s next fight, aside from Mayweather and Broner, are Amir Khan (rematch), Victor Ortiz (rematch), Robert Guerrero, newly-crowned IBF champion Shawn Porter, Paulie Malignaggi, Keith Thurman and RING/Lineal jr welterweight champion Danny Garcia who plans to move up a division in 2014.
Longshots, obviously due to a promotional rivalry, include WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, fight legend Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.
