Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao will take on undefeated Mexican Jorge Solis on April 21 topbilling a big pay-per-view card at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
According to ABS-CBN, Pacquiao will be facing the Guadalajara, Mexico native in the main event of the card, which may also be aired by the giant network worldwide.
Also slated in the card is Fil-American Brian Viloria who will go up against Edgar Sosa for the vacant WBC light-flyweight crown. The winner of the bout defends against ex-champ Omar Nino Romero, who was forced to relinquish the crown after having been found positive of the banned substance metaamphetamine.
Also slated in the card is the charismatic Mexican Jorge ‘Travieso’ Arce, who will go up against WBC superfly champion Cristian Mijares.
Popular young Mexican fighter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, son of the legendary JC Chavez, is also included in the card which will be promoted by Bob Arum’s Top Rank.
Pacquiao is set to start light training next week in General Santos City, and is also slated to announce his candidacy for an elective post.
“I have not yet decided on what position to aspire for, but I’m definitely running in the elections,” Pacquiao told ABS-CBN.
Early this week, Pacquiao and his younger brother Bobby took a highschool equivalency test in General Santos City, a move that would allow them to get highschool diploma even without formal schooling.
Pacquiao admitted that they had only finished up to elementary grades, pointing out that extremen poverty forced them out of school and into the squared arena.
