If this were really true of Pacquiao (which we’ll all find out in a few days couldn’t be further from the truth), then “Money” would simply find a way to make easy money and easy work out of him. He’s been avoiding Pacquiao and running from him- bottom line. So to insult us further, he figures he’ll try to feel out the public by putting Khan in a washing machine, even though he’s essentially a pair of jeans that’s been bleached. A few times at that.
If Pacquiao is a “has been”, it merely makes Amir Khan – a mere con – by comparison.
I must speak for the peanut gallery, in their language, to explain to you just how bad a proposed fight is between them. So bad I don’t even know where to begin. First of all, Amir Khan (though I still like the way its phrased in the title caption) does not belong in the same zipcode with Floyd Mayweather, let alone a squared circle. Sport’s Illustrated’s Chris Mannix can’t breakdown this suggested public larceny any better than he did in the attached video (watch it for clarity). When a few credible sources revealed that this fight has reached the serious discussion phase, I almost gave birth.

What has “A Mere Con” done to deserve this fight that Pacquiao hasn’t if he beats Rios? You almost have to ask yourself why TMT has been so hell bent on getting a deal with this farce “after” Bradley vs. Marquez and before Pacquiao vs. Rios. The logic from the “MONEY MAY ALL DAY” rickety ass bandwagon goes: “Well Pacquiao’s done, he lost to Marquez” (which is total and complete BS). Serious fight fans know this about Khan: HE GOT KNOCKED THE F*&% OUT BY DANNY GARCIA, BREDIS PRESCOTT, NEARLY KNOCKED OUT BY MARCOS MAIDANA AND LOST TO LAMONT PETERSON!! CLEARLY HE’S USING KHAN’S FANBASE (OR THE UK IN GENERAL) LIKE HE DOES ALL FIGHTER’S FANBASES THAT HE FACES.

Again, I?m giving him full credit for his big win (and boxing clinic) over Canelo Alvarez at the 152lb catchweight. Fine. But what about Keith Thurman? Hell I?ll even take an intriguing rematch with the now ?Incredible Hulk-like? (compared to what he looked like when Floyd faced and “cheated” him on the scales) Juan Manuel Marquez, or perhaps an interesting all undefeated tilt with Tim Bradley. He can even get what would surely be an exciting defense against Ruslan Provodnikov. And no one reading this would be mad about Danny Garcia. In fact, “Swift” probably deserves it.
We know he’s ballsy, 100% Philly tough, and what his father would bring to the promotion. Showtime can more than sell that fight – or even one with Adrien Broner – and please a public with this alternative to you-know-who. In fact, I really believe Broner is going to beat the hell out of Marcos Maidana, and if you’re winding down your “best ever” career, why not face your talented and talkative clone?
But this!?!?
If he does this, after blatantly denying and DUCKING the most demanded prizefight in the history of Boxing from the public, Floyd Mayweather?s credibility is COMPLETELY SHOT.
Guess what Floyd? You?re trending in the right direction. Don?t F it up by doing this and tarnishing a legacy you have a pretty good chance of making undeniably great. Lose Khan?s phone #, keep Manny?s on speed dial (since we know you called him) and send Ellerbe on vacation.
